Brilliant Pink IcebergAmity Rose & Garden Nursery /Amity Heritage Roses is a husband/wife mail order nursery located in Hydesville, California (North-North Coast), just minutes from the tallest trees in the world. We propagate, grow and sell quality band-sized antique, modern, species, Weeks, J&P, and David Austin English rose varieties grown on their own roots, as well as some own root roses in band potsother garden plants.  We ship our own root plants in pots of soil-less planting media - not bareroot, and have been certified by the state of California to ship to all US states and protectorates, and some other countries (click for list).  Our own root plants in pots usually ship February through August, as weather and specific variety inclinations permit.  See our Availability List for more information.

We are celebrating our 12th year in the nursery business and have compiled a list of ways you can save by being part of our continued success!   As our reputation grows as well as our plants grow, it's all the two of us can do to take orders, grow fantastic plants and ship them safely out the door.  Please enjoy our on-line catalog, current availability list and all of the other information we have linked below.  Be sure to try the "find on our site" search box in the upper right corner of this page, but if your answer is still elusive, then please contact us.  Thank you!

francis dubreuilOur Reputation and Plants...Comments from our Customers  Our goal when we began was to raise the bar in band-sized rose plants, and to be able to maintain consistency in our high quality plants, service and customer satisfaction.  From there our customers say it all, as well as their submitted photos of our babies growing up.  Thank you - you're great!  Here's a sample:  I can’t remember sending you guys an email to tell you what a happy customer I am, this may be your second but I’m so happy I can’t help it. I purchased a Blue Moon for my mom, my first on-line plant purchase, about 2 months ago. I AM SO VERY PLEASED!!!!! The Blue Moon arrived in a couple of days – pretty impressive for a cross-country trek. The roses were in perfect condition – even packed in a nice container that can be reused & looks good – nothing like the cheap ones you get from the local nurseries. The rose had so much new growth when it arrived and has grown to almost twice its original size since she’s had it (about 2 months). I have never had the pleasure of buying a plant that was obviously loved & well taken care of, I cannot believe how healthy it was when it got to us. It also had a beautiful card with the requested note attached. I want to thank you so very much for giving me the opportunity to give my best friend/mom the best gift possible. I will be purchasing from you again and again, and again, and again. You are wonderful & you have one extremely HAPPY customer!  Your Friend in FL, A.C.  (2007)

Our Plants, Health Guarantee and Privacy Policy  It's all here - probably even more than you really wanted to know!

Unusual/Rare

About FaceAbout Face™WEKosupalz - Carruth 2005 PPAF Unique light orange with darker bronze reverse on a strong growing, disease resistant Grandiflora.  Fragrance of apples. 5 x 3 ft.

Crimson BouquetCrimson Bouquet KORbeteilich PP12001 Grandiflora, dark red, fragrant, very disease resistant, Bad Fussing® x Ingrid Bergman, AARS 2000, Kordes 1999, 4 x 3 ft Z7

Geranium RedGeranium Red (Boerner 1947)  Wow, what a wonderfully fragrant rose!  The only thing I figure that went wrong in its popularity is that is had the "old rose look" in a day when the high-centered Hybrid Tea was "in".  The color is also a most unusual Oriental Lacquerware orange-red that will take special planning for the color-conscious gardener.  We encountered this rose for the first time blooming in the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden and received special permission to propagate it to get it back into commerce.  It's a keeper if fragrance and rebloom are important.  Floribunda, 3.5 x 2 ft.

First Prize First PrizeBoerner 1970    A striking, brilliant (not flat pepto-like) medium pink of exceptional form.  Mild fragrance and vigorous growth.  This 6" bloom was on one of our baby plants!  Awesome.  5+ x 4 ft Z6  AARS 1970

Gros Choux d'Hollande Gros Choux d'Hollande (no date - very old) Centifolia/Bourbon, light pink.  Both Tracy and I have this one on our (current)  individual Top 12 list. One of the earliest to bloom and it never ceases to amaze me with its "profusity" of blooms along every cane.  Very fragrant, vigorous and repeat blooming!  One out of all the thousands that really should be grown and enjoyed if you have the room.  7 x 5 ft, Z5

HeucheraMidnightRoseLeafHeuchera 'Midnight Rose'  ppaf
One of the newest and hottest Heucheras this year.  Of course if we're going to sell a Heuchera it's going to have "rose" in it somewhere and we're sure glad we chose this one!  Compact, darkest leaves are spotted hot pink in the spring, then fade to cream and pink dots in summer.  Mostly sun to part shade, perfect under a rose bush, but we've even grown it as a conversation houseplant in a sunny window!  Small bell flowers shoot out in summer.  They are selling great at the farmers' markets so we have arranged to have a lot more!  1 x 1 ft Z4Midnight Rose plant

Moonstone - Weeks Moonstone™ WEKcryland, Cadillac DeVille - Carruth 1999 PP11384  White/pink porcelain blend on huge flowers with a slight tea and rose fragrance.   Large dark green leaves. 4 x 2 ft Z6

OtBOutta the Blue™(WEKstephitsu - Carruth 2002 PP 13,449) Shrub, magenta changing to lavender.  Darker in cooler climates.  Very fragrant of a unique floral, fruity-spice, as well as disease resistant.  Lighter centers.  When they start blooming we can't keep the plants on the Farmer's Market table!  4+ x 4 ft  ***

SmokySmoky (Combe 1968)  A double flower opening somewhat muddled and flat.  Incredible color which I cannot state any better than Peter Beales, "smoky-deep-plum-red aging to burgundy, variably, sometimes paler" !  First whiff gives me raspberry.  We're bringing back this oldie that should not be forgotten.  3+ x 2 ft.

SunflareSun Flare Butter yellow clusters of fragrant flowers on a compact plant with excellent disease resistance, way back from 1981 (Warriner).  AARS 1983, Portland GM 1985.  Even people who don't "do" roses have asked us about this one because it is so healthy.  Must have gotten its good fragrance from mom 'Sunsprite'.
2+ x 2 ft, Z6

White ErfurtWhite Erfurt (Hybrid Musk, date unknown)  This sport of Erfurt is stunning.  One of Tracy's favorites now that it has reached maturity in our semi-shaded area of Hybrid Musks.  Pointed HT-type buds edged in red open to white flowers with a pink blush.  Healthy dark glossy green leaves.  If ever there was a rose bush in full bloom that resembled a camellia, this is it!  5 x 4 ft.
