Weeks Roses

Since 2004 we've been licensed to propagate and sell Weeks Roses.  As an own-root option for their excellent varieties, we've been very pleased with the arrangement.  Tom Carruth has been very consistent and successful in his ability to hybridize new varieties that are increasingly healthy and interesting to the home gardener and also the rose competitor.  It seems he has at least one AARS (All American Rose Selection) winner every year.  For all his fame, Tom remains very approachable, as a speaker at rose events, author of various articles, and he even answers the phone on occasion when we have reason to call Weeks.  As long as we're mentioning names, Christian, Maxine and Gene have also been nothing but positive for us to work with, and we thank them all!

Our plants are own-root (not grafted) and shipped in 6" band or gallon pots (not bareroot).  See the availability list for current availability and pricing.

About FaceAbout Face™ (WEKosupalz - Carruth 2005 PPAF) Grandiflora.  Unique light orange with darker bronze reverse.  Fragrance of apples. 5 x 3 ft.

All Ablaze - WeeksAll Ablaze™ (WEKsamsou) (Carruth 2000 PP13107)  A Large-flowered Climber.  Hardy vigorous and clean.  Slight spice fragrance.  Don Juan is the seed parent.  Not consistent in tropical climates, but does well in all others.  8-12 ft, Z5

Barbra StreisandBarbra Streisand (WEKquaneze - Carruth 2001 PP#13120)  Hybrid Tea.  Mauve blend with a strong fragrance and disease resistant leaves (so the official literature says, but we've not had that experience so be prepared to deal with some fungus disease in some way.).  A gorgeous flower.  I'm sure the real Babs wouldn't have picked anything less to carry her name.  5 x 3 ft, Z7

Be-BopBe-Bop™ (WEKsacsoul) (Carruth 2004 PPAF)  Shrub.  Single cerise red with bright yellow eye flowers in clusters on a medium sized and somewhat spreading bush.  Glossy leaves leads to good disease resistance. 4+ x 5 ft

Betty BoopBetty Boop™ (WEKplapic - Carruth 1999 PP#11517)  Floribunda.  Yellow ivory edged in red.  A real "eye-catching" shrub, get it?  The Weeks catalog reads, "The beloved American animated character has been honored with a rose that matches her for spunk, sparkle, style and stamina...the colors are so catchy and the abundant blooms repeat so quickly...without deadheading or shaping."  Fragrant too! 3+ x 3 ft.

Brilliant Pink IcebergBrilliant Pink Iceberg PRObril PP12645 Floribunda, pink blend, disease resistant, Weatherly 1995, sport of Pink Iceberg.  It's just impossible to go wrong with any of the "Iceberg Family" so we've added one more! 4 x 3 ft Z6 ***

ChihulyChihulyChihuly® (WEKscemala - Carruth 2004 PPAF)  Floribunda.  Red/orange/yellow blend,  named after Dale Chihuly, the famous American glass artist.  Just as with glass, the sun plays its games with this rose, bringing out the darker reds over time.  Our cooler fall weather brought out the stripes!  Quite unique!  Mild tea fragrance. Continuous bloom.  3+ x 3 ft, Z6

DreamComeTrue - WeeksDream Come True™ WEKdocpot PPAF Grandiflora, yellow with red edges, fragrant, AARS 2008, darker and larger in cooler temps, 4+ x 3 ft Z6?Dream Come True

Ebb TideEbb Tide™ (WEKsmopur - Carruth 2006) Floribunda.  Smoky deep plum purple.  I put this in an arrangement at the rose show and people were trailing behind me as I carried it in wanting to know what the rose of unbelievably dark purple was.  We think this rivals some of the older Gallicas (and perhaps may surpass them since it blooms all season long with large clove fragrant flowers).  4 x 3 ft.

Falling in LoveFalling In Love™ WEKmoomar Carruth 2006 PPAF Hybrid Tea, pink blend, fragrant.  Simply lovely.  As the Weeks Catalog states, "You'll swoon for this one!"  4 x 3 ft Z6

The shape benefits from light pruning.  6-10 ft.

George BurnsGeorge Burns (WEKcalroc - Carruth 1998 PP#10334)   The sun brings out the red and pink stripes on the yellow and cream flowers.   A rose that is sure to make you smile, and the real George Burns wouldn't have had it any other way.  Strong and fruity fragrance which was most likely Gracie's idea to cover up George's cigar smoke!  3 x 3 ft, Z6

Heart O' GoldHeart O' Gold™ (WEKdykstra - Dykstra 1997 PP10713) Grandiflora.  Cerise pink with a "heart o' gold".  The product of two other wonderful varieties: Broadway x Gold Medal. Tall, upright, strong fragrance of peach and old rose.  Those with some heat will get the best color, but those in cooler temps will enjoy larger flowers.  5+ x 3 ft.

Honey DijonHoney Dijon (WEKsproulses - Sproul 2005 PPAF)  Grandiflora.  Just as the name says, but even deeper in cooler climates.  This unique warm golden brown is vigorous and floriferous.  Very fragrant too. 5 x 3 ft.

Hot CocoaHot Cocoa™ (WEKpaltlez - Carruth 2003)  Floribunda.  No other rose of this color on the market.  Described as smoky chocolate orange.  Depending on your weather it may be more chocolate or more orange too!  One of our best disease resistant varieties and the flowers have a moderate old rose fragrance.  4 x 3 ft, Z5/6

ItMIn the Mood™ WEKfrancoly - PPAF Caruth 2007 Vivid red, excellent form and color stay.  Great for cutting, one that Tracy says makes him smile every time he sees it in the garden. 4 x 3 ft

Julia ChildJulia Child (Carruth 2006 PPAF)  Floribunda.   If you ever enjoyed any of Julia Child's cooking shows you know how much she loved butter.  I can actually hear her telling Jacques Pépin "more butter" in her distinctive warble.  I think it's wonderful that she picked out this butter yellow rose to bear her name.  The fragrance is a strong licorice and spice. Great disease resistance too.  One of my favorites for those with small gardens.  AARS winner 2006. 3 x 3 ft

Lasting Love Lasting Love™ (Commandant Cousteau® - Adam 1993 PPAF) Hybrid Tea.  Dark dusky red and very fragrant in the realm of Mister Lincoln.  Less mauve and more red in milder climates. Very glossy leaves with burgundy new growth.   4 x 2 ft Z7

Memorial DayMemorial Day™ WEKblunez Carruth 2004 PPAF  Large flowers of orchid pink petals with ruffled edges.  Strong damask fragrance and clean foliage.  Few thorns on long stems.  Loves the heat, but produces darker coloration in cooler weather. This rose sounds like the one for the person who wants "everything" in a rose.  One of the cleanest roses lazy-gardener Janet grows (completely pesticide-free, not even organic treatments).  4 x 3 ft.

Miami MoonMiami Moon™ (WEKvosuimp - Caruuth 2002 PP13509)  Floribunda.  This unusual shade of shrimp pink bedecks these ruffled flowers on a compact bushy plant.  The color deepens in moderate temperatures.   Clean glossy leaves. 2+ x 2+ ft.

Midnight BlueMidnight Blue™ (WEKfabpur - Carruth 2004 PPAF) Shrub.  Dark deep purple with rich clove fragrance.  We had a waiting list for this one before we'd even advertised we would carry it in our new Weeks line of rose varieties!  It's a color like no other modern rose.  Highlighted with golden stamens and bright green leaves.  A compact 3 x 3 ft.

WatercolorsWatercolors™ WEKclaflabo PPAF Carruth 2008 Shrub, yellow/pink blend single flowers with a light apple fragrance.  Very disease resistant, 3 x 4 ft.  You can certainly see the Be-Bop parentage here and I'm impressed that our photos are a pretty close match to the hybridizer's (minus the spider, of course).  What starts off as a yellow blend turns pink and then ends in the cerise family - similar to that more tender China rose, Mutabilis.  Z5/6
